Job Description:

  • Support informatics-related activities for biospecimen collection and use, including tracking of informed consent documentation, accurate linking of all banked biospecimens to applicable Informed Consent Document language, and management of clinical and biospecimen-derived data
  • Provide key data management and technical expertise in developing access and integration strategies to support the exploratory research use of human biospecimens and derived data
  • Support the informatics-related activities of Clinical Genetics & Biospecimens team, including management of biospecimen meta-data, and clinical and biospecimen-derived data
  • Assist the Biospecimen Research and BioBank Operations teams to collaboratively support the precision medicine teams in the Research Units and Early Clinical Development to ensure needs for exploratory/secondary use of clinical and biospecimen-derived data can be realized in a timely fashion and in a quality manner
  • Support de-identification or anonymization of banked biospecimens and associated clinical data for legacy clinical trials, in partnership with the Anonymization Service in Global Product Development
  • Support Clinical Platform teams in developing requirements for Global Anonymization service
  • Perform queries on the clinical data associated with banked biospecimens. Perform reconciliation procedures to ensure that all banked biospecimens can be accurately associated with both clinical data and informed consent
  • Represent Clinical Genetics & Biospecimens team on cross-functional projects related to data management/informatics
  • Assist in maintaining the BioBank Sample Catalog, including loading data to enable customers to peruse and order biospecimens
  • Provide access to de-identified clinical for exploratory research, including clinical data, working with statistics to appropriately aggregate clinical data sets. Additionally, may work with Pfizer Data Standards groups to understand how data standards may be employed to facilitate such data aggregate.
  • May assist in maintaining the collection of genomic data generated from banked biospecimens
  • Support the timely and accurate fulfillment of biospecimen requests
QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Bioinformatics, Statistics or related discipline
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work and collaborate in a team environment
  • Strong customer focus, including demonstrated success in designing and implementing new operational procedures in partnership with customers and stakeholders
  • Familiarity with clinical data sets
  • Experience with browsing and querying relational databases such as Oracle or MySQL
  • Understanding of database structure and SQL
  • Ability to write queries to extract information using SQL (direct connect or ODBC)
  • Proficiency in SAS programming
  • Ability to program in Linux and/or Unix environments
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment and synthesize diverse information to develop innovative solutions
Preferred:
  • Working knowledge of one scripting language, e.g., Python or Perl, and an object-oriented language, e.g., Java
  • Ability to build Web applications with JavaScript libraries such as D3 or Angular
  • Experience in creating/maintaining relational databases such as Oracle or MySQL
  • Understanding of the clinical trial process and GCP
  • 3+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry; experience related to operational processes or systems in clinical trials is desired
  • Good track record of building successful relations with supervisors, peers, suppliers, customers, partners and stakeholders is essential
  • Experience working in a tissue or other biological sample bank
  • Record of meeting team goals
  • Ability to design and implement database structures
  • Knowledge and implementation of good data management practices
  • Familiarity with Basic LIMS and/or lab management software
  • Experience with workflow management tools such as Pipeline Pilot
  • Knowledge of Pfizer SOPs and processes
