Job Description:
Partners HealthCare Personalized Medicine leverages advances in genetics to help realize the promise of personalized medicine and improve the care of patients. This position is ideal for a post doctoral candidate, who is interested in a career in clinical genomics and molecular diagnostics. The successful individual will be part of the clinical laboratory: Laboratory for Molecular Medicine (LMM) which is at the forefront of genetics and genomics. The position works closely with a network of researchers, clinicians and molecular diagnosticians. There will be a specific focus on all aspects of clinical test development - from gene and disease curation, and knowledge management to technical bench design, optimization, and validation.
The successful candidate is expected to work independently with minimal supervision. Major responsibilities include: Curate disease, gene, and variant knowledge Help implement curated knowledge, resources, and workflows into clinical operations Participate in clinical test development as needed by Evaluation of novel platforms and techniques in DNA sequencing, genotyping, and copy-number variation in order to assess suitability for diagnostic application Design and execution of clinical validation studies to determine the diagnostic performance of genetic tests Analysis of large datasets in collaboration with the Center's bioinformatic staff Help educate and communicate with partnering physicians
Qualifications
Advanced degree (MD, PhD or equivalent) in molecular biology, human genetics or related field preferred. MS degree may be considered depending on level of relevant experience Solid experience with standard molecular genetics technologies, ideally including Next Generation Sequencing Statistical and bioinformatics skills are a plus Strong analytical and organizational skills Good oral and written communication skills Independence, initiative, creativity and problem-solving ability.
