Applications are invited for a full-time position of a Bioinformatician position (Genomics) to support a range of projects within the recently formed Cancer Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory (CMDL). The CMDL is an innovative initiative set up with funding from the Cambridge Biomedical Research Centre and tasked with the introduction of genomic technologies to the diagnosis and clinical management of cancer.
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated bioinformatician to provide technical expertise in analysis of high-throughput sequencing data associated with the development and implementation of a comprehensive tumor genomic profiling platform.
The successful applicant will work to develop and validate software for the automated processing, analysis and interpretation of NGS sequencing data to identify relevant molecular features/signatures in tumor DNA derived from cancer specimens.
The role will involve working closely with scientific staff in the evaluation of bioinformatics tools to assist in the analysis and interpretation of molecular aberrations and providing basic bioinformatics training and support for scientific staff within the Department.
The successful applicant will hold an MSc or PhD in a relevant subject or have equivalent experience, and will hold a post-graduate qualification in Bioinformatics, System Biology, Computer Science, Math, Statistics or obtained equivalent knowledge through relevant and substantial experience. Experience in cancer research, including a working understanding of computation approaches for cancer genome analysis, is highly desirable. Previous working knowledge of GATK guidelines and workflows would be advantageous.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 March 2017 in the first instance.
