Job Description:
Conducts basic research in computational genomic sequence analysis, bioinformatics, construction of computational models for phenotype prediction from genomic sequence data and other omics data, application of computational models on new experimental data. Reports on results of research including publishing scholarly papers in scientific journals, giving presentations at symposia, conferences, meetings, and seminars. Participates in the preparation of reports and proposals required by funding agencies to obtain and continue funding support. Will be expected to participate in the characterization of pan-genomes, especially those relating to microbial pathogens. This will involve creation of protein families, alignments, trees, and metabolic models.

Position Requirements
Bachelor's Degree and 5 + years of experience or equivalent. Strong knowledge of biology required. Extensive knowledge of genomic sequence analysis and metabolic reconstruction required. Strong analytical skills required. Background in sequence alignments and computational tools to support characterization of prokaryotic genes required. Ability to think independently and innovatively to develop exceptional technical solutions required. Advanced knowledge in relevant scientific field required. Advanced knowledge of research techniques or methods required. Ability to write research publications required. Knowledge of regulatory policies and procedures required. Problem-solving skills required. Attention to detail required. Organizational skills required. Verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to work independently and as part of a team required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office required. Experience in microbial physiology and reconciliation of genotype and experimentally determined phenotype preferred. Considerable collaborative skills, including the ability to interact well with external collaborators preferred.
