Job Description:
Duties/Accountabilities:

• Running software pipelines for analyzing next-generation sequencing data

• Running bioinformatic tools for detection of genetic variants implicated in oncogenesis

• Running bioinformatic tools for determining the clinical significance of detected variants

• Understanding and following complex protocols and ability to problem solve when steps result in errors; ability to document such errors in precise and detailed language

• Writing validation and non-conformance documents

• Perform other related duties as required.

Responsibilities:

Skills and Abilities:

• Experience working in a Unix environment, including experience with shell scripting and common command-line tools

• Experience working with next-generation sequencing data and tools (i.e. tools for alignment and variant-calling)

• Experience with cluster computing would be an asset

• Familiarity with cancer genetics would be an asset, as would a history of publications in relevant fields

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

• Graduation from a recognized Bachelor of Science Program in Bioinformatics, Biological Sciences, or Computer Science.

• Two (2) years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience acceptable to the Medical Director of the Centre of Clinical Genomics.

• Experience running production software in a clinical environment.
