A Computational Biologist is needed to be involved in the statistical and computational analysis of genomic data including by not limited to DNA microarrays, next generation sequencing, and development of new tools for the analysis of gene expressions data. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Compiles data for use in activities such as gene expression profiling, genome annotation, and structural bioinformatics.
- Analyzes large molecular datasets such as raw microarray data, genomic sequence data, and proteomics data for clinical or basic research purposes.
- Provides statistical and computational tools for biologically based activities such as genetic analysis, measurement of gene expression, and gene function determination.
- Develops new software applications or customizes existing applications to meet specific scientific project needs; creates or modifies web-based bioinformatics tools.
- Develops data models and databases; operates computers and computer systems including hardware and software to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
- Communicates research results through conference presentations, scientific publications, or project reports.
- Confers with departments such as marketing, business development, and operations to coordinate product development or improvement.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION: Master Degree in Computer Science, medical information, bioinformatics, or other relevant field. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of related experience; OR PhD in Computer Science, medical information, bioinformatics, or other relevant field, one (1) year of related experience. Knowledge of a subset of the following: C++, Java, Perl, VB, ASP. Familiar with public repositories of genomic data such as National Center for Biotechnology Information. Experience with statistical programming language "R" (or SAS or MatLab alternatively) and the associated Bioconductor software is preferred. Record of grant writing, presentations, and publications is preferred. Experience in computational processing of nucleic acid sequence data using software such as NCBI's BLAST is preferred.Requeriments :
