Job Description:
The Biologics Center (NBC) at the Novartis Institute for BioMedical Research (NIBR) is looking for a motivated and highly experienced computational biologist to join the NBC Informatics group.

The candidate:

• will have the opportunity to contribute to the discovery and improvement of therapeutic antibodies and proteins.

• will assist experimental scientists across the organization in analyzing data, such as protein array, next generation sequencing and RNA-seq data for the advancement of therapeutic antibody projects.

• will have to formulate hypothesis and assist experimental scientists in protein constructs design, antibody library design, antibody and protein engineering and data management.

Main responsibilities :

• Provide bioinformatics support to biologics projects.

• Design, utilize and improve bioinformatics tools to respond properly to generic and specific requests from biologics projects.

• Work with experimental and computational scientists in NBC and in other departments to set standards, develop tools, algorithms and databases and perform data analysis.

Minimum requirements:

• Master Degree or Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, biochemistry, biological sciences or related field.

• 3+ industry experience is a plus.

• Excellent data analysis skills of data from high-throughput technology platforms, including RNA-seq and protein array.

• Clear understanding of antibody/protein structure and sequence analysis.

• Ability to implement own algorithms for the analysis of protein sequences and structures.

• Excellent knowledge and experience with state-of-the art bioinformatics tools and databases for the analysis of protein sequences and structures.

• Expertise in programming and scripting languages, such as R, python, perl, Java/C++, linux shell environment.

• Experience with high performance computing and/or cloud computing is a plus.

• Expertise in data management systems is a plus.

• Experience with PK/PD modelling is a plus.

• Ability to collaborate with experimental scientists.

• Able to work and communicate results and concepts to multidisciplinary project teams.
