Job Description:

The Sfeir lab (http://www.sfeirlab.com/) in collaboration with the NYU Applied Bioinformatics Center (http://www.med.nyu.edu/ocs/applied-bioinformatics-center) directed by Dr. Tsirigos (http://tsirigos.com/) is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual to work on challenging research ideas related to DNA repair mechanisms and telomere function.

Responsibilities

Analyze public and in-house ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, DNA-seq dataWork closely with biologists on both hypothesis-driven and data-driven projectsLeverage sequencing data to generate new insights using computational methodsDevelop novel computational methods and pipelinesWrite manuscripts

Required skills

Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science or related disciplines3+ years of experience with Illumina sequencing data3+ years of experience creating customized sequencing analysis pipelines3+ years of experience in Unix/Linux systems including HPC environments3+ years of experience in applying statistical/computational learning techniquesScripting languages: Python or PerlStatistical packages: R (preferred) or MatlabExcellent communication skills with proficiency in written and oral English

Benefits

Competitive salary commensurate with experience ($60,000-80,000)
