Job Description:
As a Verily Computational Biologist, you will conduct basic and applied scientific research into novel instrumentation, drug delivery, and diagnostic technologies. You will also develop data analysis methods, apply statistical machine learning tools to identify molecular/physiological/clinical markers of disease progression, and build integrative, mechanistic models to understand large-scale biological datasets. As a Computational Biologist, you will play a major role in driving our research projects like Baseline, nanoparticles, bio-sensing devices, and more. You will also help Verily scientists in other areas with data analyses or algorithm development, and interact with investigators from partner institutions to carve out new research directions.

The Verily Life Sciences team is focused on helping to move healthcare from reactive to proactive. Combining expertise from the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, medicine, electrical engineering, computer science, we’re developing new technology tools for physicians that can integrate easily into daily life and help transform the detection, prevention, and management of disease. Current projects in development include a smart contact lens with miniaturized glucose sensor; a nanodiagnostics platform to help with early detection of disease; and Liftware utensils for people with tremor. Responsibilities: -Work with experimental scientists and clinicians to drive and support Verily research. -Develop novel methods and algorithms for data processing and analysis in the field. -Work with software engineers to turn novel methods into large scale tools leveraging Google’s internal infrastructure. -Create scientifically rigorous publications, communications and presentations. Qualifications: Minimum qualifications: -PhD or MD degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience. -Experience analyzing data sets in the context of relevant diseases (e.g., immunology, oncology, metabolic, cardiology, neurology). -Experience with relevant scripting tools (e.g., R, Python, Perl, MATLAB, Lua/Scala/Ruby). -Experience with data analysis tools to manipulate datasets. Preferred qualifications: -5 years of postdoctoral or management experience in an academia or industry setting. -Experience analyzing translational and clinical data in a drug discovery or development environment, with a strong disease genetics, or clinical research. -Experience with one or more of the following data types: next generation sequencing (DNA, methylation, RNA), microbiome metagenomics, immune profiling (cytometry, immunosequencing), mass spectrometry (proteomics, metabolomics), imaging (MRI, digital microscopy). -Demonstrated ability to design and implement algorithms and methods in C/C++ or Java, especially in collaborative software and data analysis development environments (i.e. source control, code and analysis reviews, API use and definition). -Expertise with integrative, mechanistic, network, and/or predictive modeling. -Excellent oral and written communication skills.Requeriments :
