Job Description:
Job Activities: -Perform state-of-the-art research in computational and systems biology transversally in service of the R&D Program. -Build computational models drawing from concepts in thermodynamic flux analysis, metabolic control analysis, genome scale modeling, forward simulation, supervised & unsupervised learning, and design-of-experiments. -Identify and propose research targets/experiment designs based on the interpretation of data in collaboration with scientists. -Analyze the data generated from the strain development projects and the ways such data are accessed and used, in order to identify analytical gaps. -Propose and develop tools and methodologies to improve data management. -Develop software to build improved data management infrastructure. -Learn about co-workers’ scientific challenges and problems and support them in exploring possible solutions. -Communicate and report on scientific results to Amyris and TOTAL. Profile sought Requirements: Education: - PhD in Computational Biology, Systems Biology or Synthetic Biology, or a similar field related to biotechnology. Knowledge and experience. - 3 to 5 years of experience. - Hands-on experience in computational biology and scientific software development. - A proven track-record of innovative research through achievements, publications and/or patents. - Fluency in English. - Analytical skills, curiosity and open-mindedness, capacity to think out of the box and find innovative solutions, results-oriented, team spirit, interpersonal skills, capacity to work in a multi-cultural environment, autonomy, perseverance, adaptability, ability to work in a wide transverse mode ( in particular at the interface with Systems Biology, Synthetic Biology, Metabolic Engineering, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Enzymology/Protein Engineering or Fermentation), capacity to handle confidential information.
