Job title: Computational Postdoctoral Research Scientist Salary: Range is from £30,148 to £33,497 per annum (depending on experience) Location: Cambridge The Babraham Institute is a charity which is world renowned for its research in life sciences to enhance lives and improve wellbeing. A Postdoctoral Research Position is available in the Nuclear Dynamics Programme led by Dr. Peter Fraser at the Babraham Institute. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who can bring diverse skills to our multidisciplinary team working on 3D structure and organization of the mammalian genome. The spatial organization of the genome inside the cell nucleus is tissue-specific and has been linked to several nuclear processes including gene activation, gene silencing, genomic imprinting, gene co-regulation, genome maintenance, DNA replication, DNA repair, chromosomal translocations and X chromosome inactivation. The applicant should have a PhD and strong background and demonstrated track record of excellence in; mathematics, computer science, bioinformatics, engineering or physics. Experience in aspects of chromosome conformation theory and techniques, chromatin structure, 3D modelling of macromolecules, machine learning, optimisation, regulation of gene expression, epigenetics, functional genomics, chromosome biology and/or cell biology are highly advantageous. Familiarity with general purpose programming languages like Bash, C, C++, Fortran, Java, Perl, Python, Ruby etc. and parallel computing is highly advantageous.
