Job Description:
Drive growth and product revenue of Custom Solutions (30%): Responsible for engaging existing customers and prospective customers across the North America region regarding custom opportunities for QIAGEN Bioinformatics.

-Primary point of contact for the sales team to initiate Custom Solutions opportunities and support existing engagements.

-Fully understand what capabilities are available in the existing software tools and when Custom Solutions can help the customer or prospect achieve their goals.

-Deliver pre-sales presentations for QIAGEN Custom Solutions offerings.

-Perform requirements gathering and analysis (paid and unpaid) with customers and prospects to create proposals for prospective customers.

-Assist the sales team during the negotiation of these projects by helping them fully understand the project variables such as timeframe, deliverables, milestones, payment terms, etc.

-Work with the sales team to deliver high-quality proposals to customers.

-Continue dialogue with existing customers about additional opportunities that fit customer’s need.

-Customer relationship management and project delivery (30%): Work directly with internal development teams and customers to ensure the successful delivery of existing Custom Solutions projects.

-Develop a rapport with customers based on integrity, competency, and communication.

-Provide customers with project status updates, by scheduling meetings, creating presentations, demonstrating functionality, and making sure to identify any risks.

-Assist with functional and scientific quality assurance of developed software solutions to ensure requirements are satisfied and error-free.

-Be the customer advocate and work to address issues through direct communication with customer and internal development team.

-Gain customer approval (sign-off) resulting in revenue recognition.

-Ensure the timely and successful delivery of projects by working closely with internal teams, QIAGEN colleagues, and business area management.

Cultivate highly-valued reference customers for Custom Solutions. Investigate, develop new, or improve existing Custom Solution offerings to increase breadth of customer solutions QIAGEN offers (20%): QIAGEN Bioinformatics has a wide range of products and solutions that could be more fully utilized to address customer needs.

-Work with sales, product management, and development to identify new ways Custom Solutions can address customer needs across the entire QIAGEN bioinformatics and content portfolio. -Assist in developing new Custom Solutions sales offerings.

Work with marketing to development or update and distribute sales materials for Bioinformatics Custom Solutions (20%):

Ensure the development, update and delivery of sales materials that will allow the team to build value for a prospective customer of Custom Solutions:

-Value-based presentation.

-Case-study/whitepaper.

-Data sheets.

-Website testimonials.

-Attend scientific conferences with the objective of networking and identifying customer engagement opportunities.

-Identify customer references to ensure relevancy.

Position Requirements:

-PhD in biology-related field with significant software computational data analysis experience and product or project management-related experience.

-Deep knowledge of software computational data analysis tools and existing product portfolio, especially CLC Bio products.

Personal Requirements:

-Detail-oriented with very good organizational skills, with ability to multi-task.

-Team player who can work closely with sales professionals, QIAGEN colleagues and customers.

-Strong knowledge of/experience with life science research technologies and applications.

-Superb written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

-Expected overnight travel may be >40%, but will be variable depending on customer engagements.
