Job Description:
The Wellcome Trust/Cancer Research UK Gurdon Institute is seeking a person to join our Core Bioinformatics team. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with scientists engaged in cutting edge research in nuclear reprogramming, stem cell biology, embryo development, gene expression control, cancer, and DNA replication and repair. The post will involve computational analyses of a range of different data types, including RNA-seq in single cells, cultured cells and tissues, chromatin immunoprecipitation, ATAC-seq, Hi-C, and mutation detection, and could include the development of new methods. The person appointed should have a PhD or equivalent relevant expertise and the ability to communicate computational analyses with wet-lab biologists. Applicants should have a solid understanding of molecular biology and experience of computational techniques used in the analysis of biological data, as well as an understanding of statistical methods and their application to large data sets. Expertise in the analysis of Illumina sequence data is essential.
