Group Leader Position in Bioinformatics
CUBE - the division of Computational Systems Biology - is part of the Department of Microbiology and Ecosystem Science of the University of Vienna. We are a young and interdisciplinary team investigating biological systems based on data from large-scale bioanalytical methods. We develop, improve and apply computational and mathematical methods in biology. The Department of Microbiology and Ecosystem Science offers outstanding facilities for research in bioinformatics and many opportunities for cooperation with excellent scientists at the same place.
We are seeking to fill a Group leader (Senior PostDoc) position in CUBE. The gross salary is EUR 3.947,70 fourteen times per year. The position is limited to six years. The group leader is encouraged to establish her/his independent research group based on additional third party funding.
The Group leader will actively contribute to teaching in bioinformatics, perform independent research in bioinformatics and contribute to the self-administration of the university. Depending on the performance in research and education, the possibility of a postdoctoral lecture qualification (“venia legendi”) will be provided.
Applicants must hold a university degree in bioinformatics or have an equivalent education. At least three years of professional experience and a PhD degree are required. Applicants should be scientifically excellent, be able to work independently and have pronounced communication and motivation skills. Expertise with experimental ("wet-lab") methods in molecular biology is a plus.
