Job Description:
The Bioinformatics Analyst works with the Center Staff and interacts with Principal Investigators, Researchers both within and external to the Center. Responsibilities include analysis of all types of genomic data generated as part of the Center’s projects. Additional activities may include preparing manuscripts and grant applications.

Specific responsibilities of the candidate include:

  • Interface with projects to perform quality control and analysis of the data.
  • Develop testable hypotheses that will inform follow-up experiments and enable rapid understanding of new biological areas.
  • Use a state-of-the-art bioinformatics platform that will include both collecting and housing the data. Contribute to the creation of a biologist-friendly interface and analysis tools to allow the mining of epigenetic data.
Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be collaborative, self-directed and possess the following:

  • A Bachelors or Masters degree in computational biology, bioinformatics or related field with at least 2 years professional experience in processing large genome-wide data sets. Experience in epigenetics and transcriptional analysis is a plus.
  • Strong programming capabilities in at least two of the following: Python, Perl, Java, R/S-plus and C++. - Experience in translating data-mining efforts into actionable hypotheses and algorithm design/implementation/testing - Project management experience, capable of setting and reaching goals.
  • Good communication and analytic skills, in interacting with both wet-lab and computational biologists.
