Job Description:
The MRC Centre for Neurodevelopmental Disorders is inviting applications for a Data Analyst to support the research efforts of the Centre. The position, funded by the Medical Research Council, would ideally start early 2017. We are looking to recruit an expert in bioinformatics and statistics as a central resource to assist researchers in the Centre with the analysis, visualisation, interpretation, and maintenance of quantitative data derived from their scientific projects. In addition to using standard analysis approaches, the role holder will be expected to keep up to date with the most current bioinformatics techniques, and develop customised analysis pipelines for the diverse needs of the Centre. Essential Requirements: • Ph.D. in bioinformatics, systems biology, mathematics, physics, engineering, or computer science. • Experience in bioinformatics and/or statistical analysis of complex data sets. • Advanced knowledge of one or all of the following computer languages: R, Matlab, Python, C++ • Be willing to work as part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team and provide training to members of the Centre • Ability to adapt to diverse types of quantitative data according to needs of the research groups in the Centre Highly desirable: • Experience in analysis of “omic” data • Ability to handle single-cell RNAseq data • Ability to develop new analysis methods
