What You'll Do:

Research Biostatistician (Part-time) in Epigenomics functions as a member of an interdisciplinary team involved in cutting-edge bioinformatics and genomics research. The Haghighi laboratory at Mount Sinai utilizes state-of-the-art next generation sequencing technologies to study human brain development in understanding brain function and dysfunction. This position will offer an outstanding opportunity for the motivated candidate to gain experience in computational and statistical genomics – highly sought after skills in biotech and pharma fields. The successful candidate will be involved in analysis of genomic data, where s/he will be responsible for integration of large-scale data sets and data processing pipelines.

What You'll Bring

Education and Experience:

  • Master's Degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics, Biostatistics, or other related quantitative fields who are interested in genomic research
  • Coursework in programing, algorithms, bioinformatics, statistics & biostatistics, with practical project based experience in application to biological data or large datasets desirable
  • Programming experience in a UNIX/Linux environment. With programing experience in Python (or Perl), Shell scripting, and R/Bioconductor in Unix environment desirable
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to take advantage of the highly collaborative environment, adaptability and willingness to contribute to the overall goals of the research
  • The research group is highly multidisciplinary, where the candidate will work under the guidance of Dr. Fatemeh Haghighi (genomics) and Drs. Hanga Galfalvy & Yongchao Ge (biostatisticians)
