Job Description:
A data science analyst with concentration in clinical pathway analytics is needed to support our advanced analytics effort across the organization to assess the clinical pathway adherence and progress by disease sites and perform advanced analyses based on data captured in our enterprise-wide data warehouse, EHR system, cancer registry and other source systems. This collaborative analytical work provides evidence-based tools for the institution to standardize care process best practices in an effort to improve patient outcomes.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Minimum three years of experience in data analysis and reporting, quality assurance analysis, business analysis, organizational/process management, documentation management, information technology, data quality and/or related areas.
  • Experience must include understanding and developing sound methodologies used for data analysis and reporting, and document technical notes to support interpretation of the reported data
  • Ability to learn new software systems and business intelligence toolsProficiency in working with multiple complex databases and varied IT systems in health care sectors or similar environment.Practical experience in project management and ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminologies, and cancer treatment related terminologies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with other team members.
Responsibilities:

The data science analyst-clinical pathway analytics will focus on data retrieval, reporting and analytics activities related to the clinical pathway and payer stratgey work. He/She will need to demonstrate a strong ability to collaborate with multiple internal stakeholders and play an important role in analyzing and interpreting clinical pathway data collected in-house.

The analyst needs to bear solid understanding of various database structures and has the ability to use different analytical soft wares to manipulate data, perform various analyses, produce reports, identify and troubleshoot data issues, fast-track and determine root causes and form recommendations for future improvement. This position will also partner with other team members to work on other projects directly or indirectly involving clinical pathway related data to support research and clinical efforts, planning and decision making across the organization, and continuum of care

Credentials and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Informatics, Bioinformatics, Health information, Computer science, Information System Management or similar fields
  • Master's degree in the above fields is strongly preferred
  • Excellent data analytical skills and proficiency in software applications including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint, and at least one of the following software: SQL,SAS,R/S-Plus, JAVA, XML, C.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in data query, analyses and reporting
  • Experience of using various BI tools preferred
  • Experience with Oracle databases and PL/SQL strongly preferred.

Under the direction of the Enterprise Wide Analytics Strategy (EWAS) Steering Committee headed by our VP/Chief Data Officer, DQS has become a core department to help centralize and standardize all reporting and analytics effort across the organization.
