Job Description:
Main driver and expert within data management and integration

Your overall focus will be to provide the right systems and processes for easy cross-disciplinary data access and analyses. You will work with data from all levels of pharmaceutical R&D, ranging from exploratory in vitro and in vivo data to regulatory studies and clinical trials. Your work will also support most disciplines within drug discovery, such as chemistry, skin research, DMPK, toxicology and bioinformatics. Your customers will be approximately 170 scientists within the LEO Pharma research community, primarily based at the LEO headquarters in Ballerup, Greater Copenhagen – where you and your 6 highly skilled team colleagues also are based. This new focus area has strong management support and high level plans are developed for the coming 5 years. Your primary tasks will be

  • Strategy development for data management and integration
  • Establish new data standards and ontologies throughout the research organization in close collaboration with LEO scientists
  • Explore opportunities for pre-competitive collaboration on data standards and data sharing – external partnering
  • Implementation of new data standards and ontologies within research – as leading expert and advisor
  • Introduction of novel data visualization applications using integrated data – market analyses of relevant technologies
  • Development of data management and data visualization applications
First and foremost you will become the strategist and technical expert in data management and integration within the research organization. At the same time you will get the opportunity to drive projects yourself – if you have the skills and interest. Once the data integration capabilities have matured, there will be opportunities for predictive modelling and to develop competences in machine learning.

+5 years’ experience within data management and integration

You have a university degree in computer science or a related discipline, preferably complemented with a PhD. This is backed by a minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience from working with data management and integration using SQL, as well as non-SQL databases and data lakes. Additionally, you have extensive programming experience, where C#, JavaScript and Python is an advantage. Related to this, you are generally curious and open for acquiring new skills and knowledge.

As leading expert and main driver of a new focus area you will need solid planning and prioritisation skills as well as resilience in order to push through with a long term scope. Naturally, you must also be very good at manage complexity – data wise as well as organisational. On the personal level, you must thrive on setting the agenda and be the proactive force that turns ideas into tangible products. A vital key to your success will be founded within a close dialogue with your customers in the LEO science community. This takes good collaboration and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex subjects to people without your expert knowledge.
