Job Description:
We are seeking an innovative and highly motivated professional to work in data collection, analysis, storage and retrieval of farm data. Candidate will work in a team environment with other Zoetis scientists supporting the discovery and development of products across the portfolio utilizing data analytics and machine learning strategies. A background in the animal sciences would be highly desirable. The successful candidate should have a strong background in statistics, especially Bayesian approaches, programming and other skills required to manage large data sets. In addition, experience with wearables and devices used to record various management and clinical data would be desirable. The environment within Zoetis promotes novel approaches and the resources to execute a plan to completion, either within a team environment or as an individual contributor. Responsibilities: The major duties will include but are not limited to:
- Provide expertise to manage large data sets from on-farm systems for the use in the application of analytics and statistical analyses to support animal health and management.
- Development, as a member of a team, innovative approaches to build predictive equations to improve the health and performance of animals across the continuum of care.
- Assist VMRD leadership in strategic planning for the development and implementation of solutions using Zoetis products in commercial settings, and build relationships and collaborate with research partners and commercial teams to reach those goals.
- Demonstrate willingness to incorporate new knowledge into projects and strategies to create robust and value-based products.
- PhD degree in Animal Science, Quantitative Genetics, Statistics, Bioinformatics, or similar field or commensurate experience.
- Strong understanding of statistical methods and tools used to manage big data analytics for value driven outcomes in animals.
- Programming skills and/or experience in tools used to maintain and utilize data.
- Experience in working with databases and large data sets.
- Strong communication skills- both verbal and written.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse personalities.
- Comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment and willingness to learn new skills and incorporate new ideas into.
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently.
