Job Description:
As a Data Scientist, you will serve as a part of a team of data scientists and advanced analytics specialists. This team will be responsible for the overall development of data models using algorithms for pattern detection in electronic communications. The lead data scientist candidate will be a manager and leader of application developers and a high-level problem solver who uses advanced techniques, such as optimization, data mining, statistical analysis and mathematical modeling, to develop solutions that help businesses and organizations operate more efficiently and cost-effectively. The lead data scientist candidate will be a manager and leader of application developers and a high-level problem solver who uses advanced techniques, such as optimization, data mining, statistical analysis and mathematical modeling, to develop solutions that help businesses and organizations operate more efficiently and cost-effectively. Work with the business to analyze business requirements and data feeds to best support business vision and strategy. Create and organize agile development plans for application development. What You Will Be Doing:
- Lead and manage application development programmers
- Analyze communications data and Utilize statistical natural language processing to mine unstructured data, and create insights; analyze and model structured data using advanced statistical methods and implement algorithms and software needed to perform analyses
- Collect and manage Domain Knowledge data to improve product performance
- Access, transform and analyze large amounts of user feedback data
- Think critically about the relationships of different metrics measured by the product to land the right features for a given model
- Challenge our current best thinking, test theories, evaluate feature concepts and iterate rapidly
- Grow and manage a data science team as we scale, own the deliverables and manage the priorities/timelines
- Design schema and data structure improvements working closely with the software team
- Build document clustering, topic analysis, text classification, named entity recognition, sentiment analysis, and part-of-speech tagging methods for unstructured and semi-structured data
- Cluster and analyze large amounts of user generated content and process data in large-scale environments using Hadoop and Spark
- Develop and perform text classification using methods such as logistic regression, decision trees, support vector machines and maximum entropy classifiers
- Develop methods to support and drive client engagements focused on Big Data and Advanced Business Analytics, in diverse domains such as product development, marketing research, public policy, optimization, and risk management; Communicate results and educate others through reports and presentations
- Perform text mining, generate and test working hypotheses, prepare and analyze historical data and identify patterns
- Never settle for good enough, constantly push the limits of how impactful we can be.
- 3-5 years of professional experience working in Natural Language Processing or related field
- Experience developing data models, produce examples of your work
- Solid fundamentals, Natural Language Processing, machine learning concepts, regression, clustering, Bayesian modeling, probability theory, stats
- Experience managing and growing a data science team
- Fluent in R and Python
- Expertise with database systems, SQL/NOSQL
- Experience with parallelization tools Hadoop/MapReduce
- Experience with command-line scripting, data structures and algorithms and ability to work in a Linux environment, processing large amounts of data in a cloud environment
- Strong data extraction and processing, using MapReduce, Pig, and/or Hive preferred
- Bachelors or Master’s degree from an accredited college/university in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Bioinformatics, Physics, Operations Research, or related fields (strong mathematical/statistics background with ability to understand algorithms and methods from a mathematical viewpoint and an intuitive viewpoint)
- Strong analytical, presentation and writing skills
- Strong MS Office skills; including Excel - ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
- Experience/understanding of business process reengineering and business modeling concepts, business systems development and analysis
- Awareness of business and IT strategy
- Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- General knowledge of financial services concepts, products and governance
