Job Description:
Data Scientist will collaborate with colleagues, analyzes and interprets data from various sources. Compiles reports, charts, and tables based on established statistical methods. Data Scientist will collaborate with senior scientists, statisticians and engineers for the purpose of doing modeling to accurately determine the quality, accuracy, and precision of data in our measurements and processes. The person should have a solid knowledge base in applied statistics, bayesian Statistics, Machine learning, data interrogation and modeling data for research and production use. In this position the candidate will provide methodologies for creative application of existing methods, insight into data trends and correlations with processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Model the complex environmental processes essential to do predictions

* Develop programming and modeling support to researchers for a wide range of data science projects

* Provide statistical analyses of field results including data management and data quality

* Develop generalized procedures to cross-validate and evaluate model performance

* Leverage data (environment, product & field characteristics) to improve model development efforts

Give presentations to leadership to support key business decisions

* Work with top data scientists from different disciplines on challenging analytical problems

* Collaborate with software engineers on workflow building and analysis automation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. or PhD degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Crop sciences, Geography, Environment field of study (Soil/ Environmental/ Agronomic Sciences, Civil Engineering, Earth Sciences etc) or other quantitative disciplines
  • Strong scientific programming in R or Python
  • Experience working with Geospatial Data (Remote Sensing, UAV, GIS)
  • Experience working with Genetics (NGS, Phenotype expressions)
  • Knowledge and experience in machine learning, statistical modeling, computational statistics, data mining, model building, statistical analysis or spatial-temporal modeling
  • Strong teamwork skills and capability to work independently
