Job Description:
Illumina RGH are seeking an experienced data scientist to support the creation of the next generation of non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) products. Working with scientists and software engineers, you will be expected to contribute to product development from concept to launch and beyond. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in creating cutting-edge technologies that have direct impacts on patients' lives.

Your Responsibilities May Include:

-Developing novel classification algorithms for identifying genomic variants

-Experimental design and data analysis to support assay development

-Writing high-quality, production-grade code

The Candidate:

This role would ideally suit a candidate with a PhD in bioinformatics, mathematics, physics or related field. You will be as confident building a pipeline of tools to analyse NGS data as you will be building a multilevel linear model to assess the outcome of an experiment.

Key Requirements

-Excellent mathematical and statistical knowledge

-Proficiency in using Python or R for data analysis

-Previous experience working with genomic data

-Ability to work both independently or as part of a team

-Able to prioritize tasks and work concurrently on multiple projects with minimal supervision

Strongly Beneficial:

-Practical experience of machine learning techniques

-An understanding of computer clusters and Unix environments

-Experience of working under a quality management system

-Knowledge of software engineering best practices

The Team

The team works on a myriad of projects from new product development, technology transfer, high level trouble shooting and supporting the development of Illumina’s software by prototyping cutting edge data mining tools.
