Technology Partners is currently seeking a talented person for a Data Scientist - Intermediate position. What You Will Be Doing: You will assemble, annotate, and analyze a broad range of eukaryotic genomes, particularly plant and insect genomes. You will develop novel strategies and implement new analysis tools for genomics analysis and leverage cloud-computing resources. You will also communicate scientific results. What We Are Looking For:
- Master degree in Bioinformatics, Genomics, Genetics, Computer Sciences or a related field; or a Bachelors with equivalent experience.
- Familiarity with genomic sequence analysis, such as genome/transcriptome assembly, gene annotation, multi-sequence alignment, or sequence similarity searches
- Demonstrated programming and scripting skills in at least one programming language, such as R, Python, Java, Perl, or C++.
- Experience with Unix/Linux computing environments.
- Ability to handle and manipulate large datasets.
- A commitment to producing reproducible scientific results, including using version control coding practices.
- Demonstrated curiosity and ability to innovate.
- PhD in Bioinformatics, Genomics, Genetics, Computer Sciences or a related field.
- Experience with genome/transcriptome assembly using next-generation sequencing technologies.
- Experience with working in a cloud-computing environment, such as AWS.
- Experience with plant biology and breeding
