We are seeking a highly motivated Data Scientist with expertise in machine learning to join an exciting new company applying breakthrough discoveries in gene regulation to create new medicines. The successful candidate will be an essential member of a close-knit team of computational and experimental biologists analyzing large, multidimensional genomic datasets from internal and external sources. Key responsibilities:
- Design and implementation of advanced predictive models incorporating diverse data types.
- Identification, assessment, and deployment of state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms and development of new methods.
- Develop tools to support analysis and visualization of large datasets.
- Ph.D. in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Computational Biology, or related discipline.
- Extremely strong background in statistics, machine learning, deep learning, graph/network analysis, and/or systems biology.
- Experience in solving large-scale real-world problems in a team environment.
- Recognized excellence in applied machine learning through publication in top-tier peer-reviewed journals or conferences.
- Knowledge of statistical programming techniques and languages.
- Demonstrated effectiveness using common machine learning, deep learning, and network analysis software tools and packages.
- Comfort and proficiency in UNIX/HPC systems and experience using cloud compute.
- Familiarity with noSQL databases and large-scale data processing frameworks.
- Familiarity with high-throughput next-gen sequencing platforms and their analysis.
- Solid understanding of data structures, software design and architecture.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative, but also a co-operative team player.
