Job Description:
Key Role: Maintain responsibility for working closely within a multifunctional team to receive, track, and catalog encrypted genomic data shipped from third party vendors. Assist with the development, enhancement, and maintenance of genomic data QA/QC pipelines. Deliver standard operating procedures of MVP’s genomic, clinical, and survey data pipelines. Perform testing of genomics tools newly installed on the system. Assist with genomic data annotation and researcher queries of genomic data. Basic Qualifications: -Experience with biomedical research in genomics, including with scientific publications -Experience with programming within a UNIX or Linux environment -Knowledge of genetics and molecular biology -Knowledge of common programming languages, including Perl, Python, and R -PhD degree in Human Genetics, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or Computer Science Additional Qualifications: -Experience with workflow management software for pipeline development, including Snakemake -Experience with common open source genomic analysis tools, including PLINK, Eigensoft, and Impute2 -Experience with data formats and analysis tools for whole exome sequencing or whole genome sequencing -Experience with array-based analysis, gene expression analysis, machine learning methods, data mining, and statistical modeling -Experience with Microsoft Office suite of products, including Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint, Word Documents, and Project -Experience with consulting and business work a plus -Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills to clearly and concisely communicate complex concepts to clients, researchers, and onsite staff
