Job Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a competent and multi-skilled Database/Web Developer with proficiency in systems administration, to help maintain information systems underpinning translational cancer research at the Department of Oncology.

The role will focus on supporting an established database, web systems, and frameworks for high-throughput data processing and integration. The role will also involve assisting in maintenance of high-performance computing clusters, storage and backup systems, databases, web servers and web applications and technical assistance. This is a diverse role, and will involve contributing to database and software development projects at all stages of their lifecycle.

You will have, or be working towards, a PhD in a relevant subject area such as computer science or bioinformatics. You will also be able to evidence a high level of competence in one or more of PHP, Java, and Python; including the use of one or more of these languages to develop or make a significant contribution to a software/web/database application that has had a commercial or scientific impact. A working knowledge of R related to scientific data processing and analytic pipelines is also an essential requirement of the role, together with demonstrable project management experience for the planning, development, roll-out, and support of software systems. In addition, you will require excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with people at all levels of seniority in the University.
