Job Description:
We are currently seeking a Developer and Data Scientist. This position is located in Seattle, Washington.

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a high motivation for success, ability to deliver solid, well-designed, defensible analysis with corresponding replication data and code, and the ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams with other highly motivated individuals. The candidate is expected to assume the following primary job responsibilities.

  • Develop, test, document, and maintain analytical computer code for deadline driven projects.
  • Consistently follow software development life cycle practices and adapt to changing requirements in an agile way to meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
  • Communicate on a regular basis with project leaders and team members including policy analysts, program evaluators, healthcare researchers, mathematicians, statisticians, and computer scientists.
  • Develop and implement statistically sound analyses on diverse data sources using reproducible quantitative methodologies.
  • Write clear, concise analytical products.
  • Support data collection and management processes, including organizing and managing large datasets for analysis.
  • Maintain current knowledge and skills on relevant topics and technologies, including maintaining technical certifications as appropriate.
  • Continued job performance improvement through on-the-job training and outside study.
  • Minimal domestic travel.
THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION:
  • Bachelor’s Degree with 2-5 years of work or internship experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Applied Statistics, Industrial or Systems Engineering, Mathematics, or Computational Social Sciences with strong computer science and research related coursework or experience.
  • Demonstrated competency with object-oriented scripting languages like Python or Java.
  • Demonstrated experience with SQL and relational database engines such as PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, or Oracle.
  • Experience writing analytical briefings based on quantitative analysis.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet competing deadlines successfully, while managing multiple stakeholder needs.
THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION:
  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Applied Statistics, Industrial or Systems Engineering, Mathematics, or Computational Social Sciences.
  • Experience with developing, testing, documenting, and maintaining computer code for deadline driven projects.
  • Experience with health policy and/or evaluation research, especially healthcare quality improvement.
  • Experience with additional languages (e.g., SAS, R, Stata, C, C++).
  • Experience with Linux-based Operating Systems (e.g. Ubuntu, RedHat, etc.).
  • Experience with discrete event simulation or related microsimulation approaches.
  • Experience with bioinformatics, sequence analysis, genomics.
  • Experience participating in the requirements gathering process, providing user documentation, and writing clear, concise statements within programs.
  • Experience with cloud computing technologies as well as associated service providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience using version control software (e.g. Git, Subversion, Mercurial, etc.)
