Job Description:
Paramount Recruitment is working exclusively with a leading biotechnology company based in Cambridge. This small organisation is currently going through exciting development plans having recently established their offices here in the UK over the last couple of years.
The company mission is to transform genomics big data computing and application engineering. Together, the team possess a wide expertise in bioinformatics, ranging from functional genomics data analysis, algorithm design and data visualisation to next-generation sequencing data processing and quality control.
We are looking for a Python Developer to assist in the development of a large scale database on the company platform.
Your responsibilities:
*Writing code in various programming languages (Java & Python)
*Handling large datasets, data transfer
*Gain stronger knowledge within bioinformatics, including: basic biological concepts, file formats and tools
*Solving problems independently
*Working in close collaboration with Senior Bioinformaticians
The successful candidate for this role as a Java / Software Developer should have:
*Coding skills in Java and/or Python (others would be a plus)
*Must have experience handling large databases/datasets
*Experience of data transfer
*Ability to solve problems independently
*Desire to learn things outside your comfort zone
*Enjoy working in a team!
Candidates are not expected to be an expert in Biology or Bioinformatics, but a desire to learn and enthusiasm for Bioinformatics is essential!
