Job Description:
The Director of Bioinformatics is responsible for overseeing the design, development and maintenance of innovative, high-performance and robust bioinformatics workflows for Progenity products. As well as, overseeing bioinformatics operations, including quality control and retrospective analyses of clinical data. Providing technical leadership and guidance to a multidisciplinary team of bioinformatics scientists, data scientists and software engineers. The Director of Bioinformatics is also responsible for building out and managing a geographically distributed bioinformatics team with the diverse skills needed to develop and deliver industry-leading diagnostic products. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: -Directs the development, operationalization and maintenance of high-performance data analysis pipelines -Directs bioinformatics support for commercially available molecular diagnostics at Progenity -Provides analytical support to aid in decision making in the development of new products -Manages staff including recruiting, performance management, training, and development -Develops and implements vision for the evolution of the bioinformatics team to support research and development, pre-clinical, and clinical data analysis needs -Guides Progenity management on future directions for bioinformatics of relevance to the organization

Position Requirements:
Education: PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or related field Work Experience: -10+ years of relevant work experience with at least 5 years in a biotechnology setting -3+ years of management experience Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: -Proficient in current approaches to software development, integration, testing and deployment -Proficient in biological sequence data analysis -Experience with Laboratory Developed Tests -Knowledge of statistical analysis and machine learning methods -Knowledge of high-performance computing and cloud-computing -Strong oral and written communication skills -Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a wide range of tasksRequeriments :
