Job description
The role will be responsible for development, operationalization, quality assurance, and continued innovation and improvement of the data processing pipeline and genomic data analysis toolset for Next Generation Sequencing data for processing high production volumes of human genomes.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a high-performance and high-throughput pipeline process to take raw files from NGS output, align the data, and perform analysis of the genomics data.
- Direct or perform the development of custom software tools or scripts to optimally tailor the genomics processing pipeline and interpretation tools.
- Perform an evaluation and selection process to identify the best commercial or open-source software for processing the NGS data.
- Work with IT resources to select and configure the best production-computing platforms to process high volumes of human genomes pipelines with WES, or WGS data.
- Develop a quality assurance process at every step of the genomics data and interpretation process pipeline to assure fidelity of interpretation.
- Select (or develop) and manage tools for analyzing genomes to determine structural and copy number variations, as well as allele calling and interpretation of the genomics data.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Master's or PhD with 3+ years of relevant industry or academia experience required. Education should be in the fields of Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics or related disciplines. Familiarity with statistical methods is desired. Ability to work in a Linux environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to program in Julia, C++, Python or related scripting languages is big plus.
