About the College/Department: The Internet Studies Center is a multi-disciplinary program founded in 1999 and housed in the Computer Science Department. The program has two major components: 1. Curriculum that allows students majoring in a variety of disciplines to pursue three certificates (E-commerce developer, Web Content Developer, Web Programmer) and a minor. The ISC currently serves about 40 students per year in this capacity. See https://isc.wwu.edu/ for more information. The Director of ISC will primarily contribute to this component. 2. Cybersecurity and Privacy Initiative (CPI) serves as the focal point for education, interdisciplinary study and outreach in cybersecurity and privacy. The Director of the Computer and Information Systems Security Program leads CPI efforts; however, the Director of ISC will collaborate on these efforts. The Computer Science Department has been growing over the last several years to meet increasing student demand and state needs. The department has recently hired several new faculty in areas such as cybersecurity, human-computer interaction, machine learning, parallel computing, bioinformatics, and computer science education. We support Western's mission to bring together individuals of diverse backgrounds and perspectives in an inclusive, student-centered university that develops the potential of learners and the well-being of communities. Specifically, the Computer Science Department is committed to creating opportunities for and supporting the success of those typically underrepresented in the field of computing. Thus, we welcome applications from diverse candidates interested in this position. About the University: Western Washington University is comprised of about 15,000 students and is recognized as the top public masters-granting university in the Pacific Northwest by US News & World Report. Western is also one of the top masters-granting institutions in terms of the number of its undergraduates who go on to earn a PhD. Western Washington University is located in scenic Bellingham, Washington, a town of about 80,000 residents nestled between the mountains of the North Cascades and the waters of Puget Sound. Recreational opportunities abound nearby including biking, skiing, hiking, sailing, kayaking, and mountaineering.
