Blueprint Medicines is seeking a versatile and enthusiastic scientist to lead Computational Biology and Bioinformatics. This individual will be responsible for computational strategies supporting our entire research and development pipeline of oncology and immunotherapy programs. Blueprint Medicines is seeking a versatile and enthusiastic scientist to lead Computational Biology and Bioinformatics. This individual will be responsible for computational strategies supporting our entire research and development pipeline of oncology and immunotherapy programs. The ideal candidate is a proven project leader who can influence stakeholders via his/her technical knowledge, innovative approaches and strategic thinking. Candidates must be collaborative and enjoy a fast-paced and hands-on research environment. Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic and scientific leadership to cross-functional research, translational medicine and clinical teams.
- Direct activities related to data generated by high-throughput molecular assays and next-generation sequencing technologies with the goal of exploring novel therapeutic hypotheses, target identification and biomarker discovery.
- Develop new approaches to continuously improve quality and success of computational initiatives.
- Manage internal/external collaborations and contribute to assessment of strategic alliance opportunities.
- Manage performance and development of scientific staff members for maximal success.
- Present clearly and succinctly in a variety of internal and external settings.
- Ph.D. degree in biology, bioinformatics, statistics or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in computational biology and bioinformatics.
- Deep understanding of computational methods, scripting and programming languages, and relevant concepts in cancer biology, immunology and/or genetics.
- Demonstrated success in achieving key milestones and contributions to the field.
- Excellent leadership capabilities with skill in building, guiding and motivating effective teams and fostering productive research collaborations.
- Proven ability to hire, coach and develop world class talent.
- Outstanding communication and partnering skills.
