A PhD position is available in the Disease Systems Immunology Group at DTU Systems biology in collaboration with the Danish Pediatric Asthma Center at Gentofte hospital.
The project is focused on the role of environmental and immunological factors in early life in relation to progression of childhood asthma, and involves analyses of a large amount of immunological, microbiological and metabolic data to be integrated with data from longitudinal clinical phenotyping. The data are part of the Copenhagen Prospective Studies of Asthma in Childhood (COPSAC) birth cohorts.
We are looking for a super talented colleague who can carry out an independent PhD project, and take active part in collaborations with a highly qualified team of dedicated postdocs, PhD students and research assistants. The research environment is interactive and of high international standard.
Responsibilities and tasks
As a Ph.D. student, you will:

Candidates should have a master's degree in engineering, computational modelling, bioinformatics or similar, and preferentially be acknowledged in life science and/or immunology.
Approval and Enrolment

The assessment of applicants will be made by Associate Professor Susanne Brix Pedersen, Associate Professor Christopher T Workman and Professor Hans Bisgaard.

Salary and appointment terms
The salary and appointment terms are consistent with the current rules for PhD degree students. The period of employment is 3 years.

The work is to be carried out at the two collaborating workplaces, located in close vicinity.
The research focus in the Disease Systems Immunology group at DTU Systems Biology encompasses wet and dry lab studies on the interplay between early environmental factors, the microbiome and the immune response in relation to disease development.
The Danish Pediatric Asthma Center at Gentofte Hospital is a clinical translational research unit for childhood asthma, allergy and eczema. Through coupling of clinical and basic science research we have made important discoveries that have gained international recognition and will make an important difference for the treatment and prevention of these diseases.
