Job Description:
The DNA Learning Center of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory has an immediate full-time opening for a science educator to provide hands-on experiences for high school students and their teachers at its facilities in Cold Spring Harbor, Lake Success, and Manhattan. The successful candidate will assist with management of an NIH funded student-centered research program to use DNA barcoding to study the biodiversity and ecology of Long Island. Additional responsibilities may include developing curricula and mentoring student research classes. Occasional overnight travel to workshops and professional meetings is required.

Position Requirements
Experience teaching in either formal or informal settings is not required, but preferred. This is an ideal position for a scientist with an advanced degree in molecular genetics, conservation biology, or a related field who would like to pursue a career in teaching and/or non-profit science education.

Successful candidates will become members of a small, influential group recognized worldwide as a leader in creating and disseminating new methods of genetics education, including the fields of genomics, bioinformatics, DNA barcoding and RNA interference. This position demands a motivated, self-starter with excellent writing, computer, and communication skills – plus the ability to work closely with others.
