We have an opening for a Software Engineer III with a background in programming robust, customer facing software. We would consider software developers/engineers from the IT industry who do not have a life science background but would like to contribute to a winning life science team.

Major Responsibilities:
•The candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining pipelines for DNA assay design on the basis of DNA sequence composition, thermodynamic parameters, and genomic annotations.
•Develop pipelines for assay design and maintain the data in a relational database infrastructure.
•Work with the portal team to deploy customer facing design pipelines.
•Work closely with R&D team and other members of the development team to set development strategies and to analyze the root cause for success and failure.
•Improve the designs through mining and iterative analysis of the data obtained.
•Develop heuristic rules and algorithms to improve the design pipeline.

Minimum Qualifications (must have)
Minimum Qualification:
•This position requires the knowledge and skills normally acquired through completion of a MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field.
•More than 1 year (ideal 3+ years) industrial experience in perl (or python), C++ (or Java), shell scripting, and SQL.
•Experience with big data

Preferred Qualifications (nice to have)
Skills/Knowledge Requirements:
•Experience with multiple complete software development product life cycles from concept to development and product testing and final release.
•Proven track record on successfully developed bioinformatics related commercial software products.
•Experience developing multi-threaded, distributed applications.
•Experience with cloud computing, parallel computing and big data.
•A good understanding of genomics, molecular biology, and common biological techniques like PCR and next-gen sequencing.
•Hands-on experience with sequence analysis tools (e.g. Blast, bowtie, etc.) and excellent understanding of genomic databases and their annotations (GenBank, RefSeq, ENSEMBL, dbSNP, UCSC genome browser).
•Excellent communication and organization skills.
•Experience with next-gen sequencing data analysis and date mining is a strong plus.
