Job Description:
The Plant Pathology department is seeking to hire a Postdoctoral Fellow for Dr. Jesse Poland's lab. This person will be expected to independently design and implement complex genomics research experiments using the latest statistical modeling and machine learning approaches. The position will require synthesis of the current state-of-the-art in the discipline and a comprehensive understanding of appropriate experimental design and subsequent analysis. Research results must be assessed and analyzed in a cohesive and coherent manner, and presented to stakeholders and the scientific community. The Post Doc is expected to lead the preparation and publication of peer-review manuscripts that present research findings from the project.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

1. In-depth knowledge and experience with analysis of whole-genome and reduced representation sequencing

2. Experience with genomic prediction models

3. Strong proficiency in data management and programming with some combination of Java, Python, Perl/BioPerl, C/C++ and the R statistical package

4. Experience building and deploying applications on Linux cluster environment

5. Familiarity with database development, design and optimization

6. Experience developing and implementing statistical modeling for whole-genome prediction and trait association analysis

7. Demonstrated experience creating high-quality, peer-reviewed manuscripts

8. Experience with code version control (Git) and program/code development in collaborative environment

9. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills

10. Strong commitment to expanding and fostering diversity

11. PhD in plant genetics, breeding, statistics, bioinformatics or closely related discipline

Preferred Qualifications:

-Experience with wheat genomics

-Experience with field experiments in applied breeding program
