Job Description:
Bionano Genomics is looking for a Field Application Scientist based in North America to support customers in sample prep and bioinformatics analysis using Bionano systems. You will provide pre and post- sales support and training to Bionano Genomics customers. Your ultimate goal is to educate Bionano users on experimental design, sample prep and downstream analysis of Bionano data. This requires a solid knowledge of molecule biology, genomics technologies and relevant bioinformatics tools, also understanding of networking, servers, and workstations. The position is field based and the candidate will be part of the US FAS team. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: • Provide pre-sales consulting and demonstration to facilitate customers’ understanding and adoption of Bionano’s Next Generation Mapping technology. • Train customers in experiment design, basic sample prep and Bionano bioinformatics data analysis tools/applications . • Recognize, evaluate, and troubleshoot customer issues related to Bionano sample prep, data analysis and interpretation. • Accurate and timely documentation of customer issues and feedback using Bionano’s complaint tracking system. • Develop, coordinate and deliver advanced bioinformatics and application trainings for customers and other Bionano employees. • Write and edit technical documentation and training materials for internal and external customers. • Provide product feedback to internal teams.

Requirements
Required: • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) with minimum 3 years of relevant experience in Bioinformatics, or Molecular Biology field • Practical experiences with molecule biology assays, such as DNA isolation • In-depth knowledge of sequencing and genomics platform and methods • Demonstrated code ability with Perl / Python or other scripting languages in a Linux environment • Practical experience of networking and administration of Linux servers • 2-3 years previous experience in a direct external customer support role, preferably in the Life Science industry • Ability to think and implement from a customer-centric and team-focus perspective • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication and presentation skills • Highly self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision • Excellent time and project management skills • Outstanding customer training skills • Willing to travel up to 50% Advantageous: • Experience with a broad range of common NextGenSequencing analysis packages. • Experience with high molecular weight DNA isolation from various sample types . • Training and teaching experiences.
