Job Description:
We are looking for a Field Application Scientist for a full time permanent contract. The position is within our Genedata Screener® business unit, based out of the Boston office, and requires about 20% travel within North America, and occasional travel to Europe.

The SAM acts as an interface between science and sales, working with both external customer projects and internal product management and development teams.

You will work with a range of screening technologies and application areas, so you should have deeper knowledge within a few or broader knowledge within several of them. For an overview of some of the technologies and applications we support, please visit our website. Because our customers are mainly within pharmaceutical research, you should have knowledge of pharmaceutical research and the drug discovery process and ideally experience in the analysis of high-throughput screening data. We are particularly looking for candidates with a degree or extensive experience within quantitative biology, bioinformatics, applied physics, or applied mathematics.

You will work with customers through all phases of the sales cycle, including managing and delivering scientific pre-sales, consulting, and implementation projects. After a successful sale, you will continue to provide user training, consulting, and product support, and manage service projects from inception to completion. This will expose you to a range of different people, requiring an ability to successfully interact with managers, scientists at all levels, and IT experts.

Internally you will orchestrate the work of the service and implementation teams, ensure the quality of implementations, guarantee adherence to budget and time lines, provide customer feedback to product management, and support the sales force with product expertise in customer presentations and demonstrations.

The role involves some software development, and familiarity with UNIX systems and Python scripting, which means that proven skills within these areas is required, as is a good understanding of scientific data analysis. Familiarity with Java is a definite advantage. A background in statistics would be a plus.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to support, shape, and promote a successful, cutting-edge software system. You will experience a high level of interactivity and responsibility in a growing company, and the opportunity to work as part of a strong global team.

Genedata is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Genedata only accepts CVs and resumes directly from candidates. Personnel recruitment agencies need not respond.

Legal authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer is required.
