Job Description:
o Design, develop and maintain professional quality software for scientific analysis. o Use best software engineering practices to write, document and maintain code. o Writes code that can be run on local or cloud environment i.e. portable code. o Integrate disparate software systems on heterogeneous environments. o Refactor existing code to optimize speed, memory and maintainability. o Work with database specialists to develop applications. o Adopt Scrum/Agile development strategies. o Identify, track and manage software bugs, and deploy industry best practices for software QA/QC. o Manage multiple competing priorities. o Communicate clearly with a wide variety of stake holders – bioinformaticists, data scientists, biologists, geneticists, physicians, lab staff and infrastructure IT staff. Minimum Qualifications: Education: o Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Bioinformatics, Life Sciences or equivalent Minimum experience: o Four years experience writing production quality, professional software code. o Four years of software development experience using any of C, C++, Java, Ruby or Python. o Four years experience with unix/linux operating system. o Four years experience using git or SVN. o Two years experience with any SQL database. o Two years experience with Web technologies – AngularJS, XML, JSON. o Two years experience with AWS/Google/MS cloud. o One year experience with any NoSQL database. o One year experience working with hadoop. Preferred Qualifications: o Demonstrated experience in open-source software development or integration. o Demonstrated experience with cloud-based development. o Demonstrated experience working with Docker or similar container technologies.
