Bioinformatics Scientist, Neuroscience
Description
Genentech is seeking a highly motivated and talented Bioinformatics Scientist to provide collaborative support for projects supporting clinical and basic science research efforts in Neuroscience. This position integrates closely with bench scientists in an embedded bioinformatics environment. The successful candidate will be expected to apply bioinformatics tools to molecular, clinical, and genetic data to help interpret clinical trial results, discover biomarkers, and translate clinical discoveries into novel therapeutics. Applicants must be able to work comfortably on an interdisciplinary team and should have a strong desire to pursue creative solutions to challenging problems.
Who You Are
The Bioinformatics Scientist, Neuroscience will possess the following qualifications:
PhD in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology or similar field, and preferably postdoctoral experience A consistent publication record, preferably in the field of Neuroscience Ability to work successfully as the bioinformatics lead in cross functional teams that contribute to drug and biomarker development Enjoys working closely with bench scientists and clinical development teams to collaboratively solve complex biological problems Experience working with some types of large scale genomic data (e.g. RNA-seq, genotype analysis, microarrays, etc.) Passionate about applying his/herskills in genomics analysis to utilize bioinformatics methods (e.g. from Bioconductor) to understand the biology of disease Comfortable writing code in languages such as R, Matlab, Perl, or Python for bioinformatics analyses Intensely curious about the biology of disease and eager to contribute to scientific efforts focused on understanding neurodegeneration and other significant unmet medical needs. Ability to present complex results, both verbally and in writing, to bioinformatics audiences and non-bioinformatics audiencesA Job with Benefits Beyond the Benefits
