Job Description:
The Genomic Data and Scientific Content Curator is an exceptional candidate who has extensive clinical and/or biological expertise, cancer genomics expertise and bioinformatics skills.
Responsibilities:
* Curate genomic criteria for clinical trials, and structure such criteria in computational format. Work with clinicians to review clinical trial eligibility and develop a comprehensive review process for genomically annotating all clinical trials at DFCI.
* Work with multiple disease centers at DFCI to understand their specific clinical and research questions, and assist with deposition of clinical and genomic data into the cBioPortal at DFCI.
* Curate the known effects of recurrent oncogenic mutations, and link clinically actionable mutations to approved therapies. Work with the scientific leadership to develop a crowd-sourcing initiative to annotate clinically actionable mutations in cancer.
* Perform data quality control and conversion for import into cBioPortal.
* Identify and collect relevant data sets from the scientific literature and public databases.
* Assist cBioPortal users with questions about the data and perform training sessions.
* Update website content, write the user manual for the cBioPortal and help prepare educational and training documents. Required skills:
* PhD in molecular biology, genetics, genomics, bioinformatics (or equivalent) (or a Masters Degree with two years of work experience).
* Knowledge of cancer genomics and genomic data, including next-generation sequencing data.
* Strong interest in contributing to biological research with clinical applications.
* Bioinformatics skills (Unix, scripting, ideally in Python).
* Strong communication skills (written and oral).
* Strong attention to detail.
* The candidate must demonstrate outstanding personal initiative and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
