Job Description
In R&D we develop new software technologies to enable the translation of genomic data into clinical impact, motivated by the needs of our customers. Current focal areas include: data warehousing of population-scale genotypes/phenotypes/EMRs, reference- and haplotype-based compression, privacy-protecting genomic data exchange, encrypted delivery of genome-based diagnostic tests, leveraging hardware acceleration technologies, and improving foundational toolkits and file formats. We open source many of our contributions, present at relevant conferences, and participate in standards-making consortia.
R&D team members also spend a portion of their time with our engineering and science teams. In engineering, they contribute to development and maintenance of the DNAnexus platform stack, while gaining exposure to system internals and professional software engineering practices. With the science team, they work closely with customers to realize their diverse scientific and clinical goals, informing R&D initiatives.
