Graduate Co-Op Scientist

Job Description:
Janssen Research & Development, L.L.C., a Johnson and Johnson Company, is recruiting for a Graduate Co-op Scientist, Cell & Developability Sciences to be located in Springhouse, PA. The term of this co-op assignment will be 6 months.

We are seeking a highly motivated Graduate Co-op Scientist to join our group at Janssen. The Graduate Co-op Scientist will:

• Perform in-silico analyses on proprietary genome and transcriptome sequencing data to improve the understanding of relevant parameters that determine the success of cell line development for generation of production cell lines for biotherapeutics.
• Develop scripts and protocols for analyzing mutations and variation in sequence of whole genomes, of gene integration sites, of gene expression in recombinant Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cell lines
• Perform statistical and bioinformatics analyses of correlations of the above to productivity and production stability
• Write reports to visualize and present results from the above
• Write scientific manuscripts for publication of results

Qualifications:

• Candidates must have a minimum of one year enrollment in a Doctoral degree program (e.g., PhD) in a relevant discipline such as biological sciences, biochemistry, bioinformatics, chemical engineering, or related field.
• Candidates must be detail-oriented, highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks.
• Candidates need to be proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point, and have strong oral and written communication skills. Additional technical competencies in Sharepoint and other information technology systems are highly desirable, as is experience with PubMed databases and other literature databases.
• Participation in campus/community service activities is desired.
• Candidates must be able to work in Springhouse, PA.
