Short introduction/Summary The Francis Crick Institute is a new research institute with a distinct vision of how biomedical research is conducted. It is one of the most significant projects in UK biomedical science for a generation. The institute’s laboratories have an international reputation for cutting edge research into basic biology and are committed to training the next generation of research scientists. The Francis Crick Institute (the Crick) is a partnership between the Medical Research Council (MRC), Cancer Research UK (CRUK), the Wellcome Trust, University College London, Imperial College London and King’s College London. On 1 April 2015, staff from the London Research Institute (CRUK) and National Institute for Medical Research (MRC) transferred to the Crick to form a fully functional research institute on four sites. In 2016, the Crick will move to a single new, purpose built research centre in St. Pancras, which will house some 1,500 staff. As part of establishing world class facilities the Crick is looking to recruit a highly experienced facility head with an excellent international reputation to establish and manage a world-leading Advanced Sequencing Science Technology Platform (STP) in the new institute. PROJECT SCOPE/ DESCRIPTION Your role will be to lead the effective running of the Advanced Sequencing STP for the Francis Crick Institute. You will manage a state of the art facility with cutting edge technology and technology development. Reporting to the Director of Crick Science Operations, you will manage a team of up to 10 facility staff. The post holder will work closely with scientific group leaders and the Bioinformatics and Genomics STPs to provide a highly effective sequencing service to over 100 laboratories within the Francis Crick Institute.
