Job Description:
The biggest national genomics medicine service in the UK is now seeking a Head of Bioinformatics to build an entirely new bioinformatics division. The Head of Bioinformatics will work closely with some of the worlds leading figures in precision medicine on a range of projects from pharma, biotech and academia. Responsibilities will include providing expert scientific advice and leading a team of talented bioinformatics to deliver bespoke data analysis services. Main responsibilities will involve: - Management of a bioinformatics team - Nurturing and managing external partnerships with pharma, biotech and academia - Communicating with internal stakeholders across departments - Providing bespoke bioinformatics analysis services to clients on key projects The ideal candidate will have: - A deep understanding and demonstrable knowledge of statistical genetics/quantitative genomics, with a PhD in a related discipline - Experience working with large genomic and clinical datasets - Exposure to GWAS, cohort studies or population genetics - Proven leadership experience, and confident communicating at all levels, with customers and stakeholders - Technical ability, proficient coding skills in R, Python and experience with statistical methodologies
