Job Description:
Moffitt Cancer Center is currently recruiting for a Director of Health and Research Informatics located at in Tampa, FL.

Position Highlights:

  • Reporting to the Vice President, Chief Data Officer, the Director of Health and Research Informatics is responsible for the oversight, planning and direction of the enterprise wide analytics infrastructure to support Moffitt's Strategic Plan, including:
  • Designing the information architecture for Moffitt's enterprise wide data warehouse, the Health and Research Informatics (HRI) Platform, incorporating high-quality administrative, clinical, molecular and patient-reported data for use across clinical, research and business areas of the organization;
  • Facilitating access to new data pertinent to Moffitt strategic initiatives through medical record abstraction, expansion of patient-reported data and m-health technologies, and strategies for querying unstructured data sources, such as text from medical records and clinical images;
  • Driving the roadmap for molecular and imaging data workflows, linking data and aligning technologies across the laboratory, clinical and research environments to facilitate operations, clinical decision support, and research;
  • Keeping abreast of industry trends and best practices in data governance, data warehousing, advanced analytics and data sharing; providing recommendations for Moffitt's strategy toward data-related partnerships.
The Ideal Candidate:
  • The ideal candidate will have formal training in computer, information and/or data sciences with a working knowledge of oncology, genomics and big data technologies.
  • The successful candidate will be a strong communicator, able to collaborate across clinical, research and business areas of the organization, translating information across technical and non-technical departments.
  • He or she will be able to both summarize complex ideas for executive audiences and drill down into technical details, as appropriate.
  • He or she will also bring a comprehensive knowledge and outlook of contemporary healthcare analytics strategies and methods.
Credentials And Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Health Informatics, Bioinformatics, Data Science or related field is required.
  • At least eight years of experience working with healthcare data is required.
  • Working knowledge of oncology and genomics is required.
  • Working knowledge of data warehousing, ETL, SQL and other coding language is required.
  • Familiarity with big data technologies, including unstructured data mining (image analysis through machine learning, natural language processing) is preferred.
  • Experience working in an academic medical center is preferred.
