The Hood College Departments of Biology and Computer Science in the Graduate School have a joint tenure-track opening at the rank of ASSISTANT PROFESSOR for a broadly trained bioinformaticist beginning August, 2016 to lead the newly established Master of Science Program in Bioinformatics. The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to teaching, ongoing scholarly research, and service to the college. We are searching for an individual who has expertise in one or more areas of bioinformatics such as genomics, genetics, metabolomics, proteomics or systems biology including gene expression, evolution, population genetics, or the microbiome and can teach foundational concepts such as programming, bioinformatics algorithms, data management, data visualization and data structure(s). In addition to teaching and mentorship responsibilities, the successful candidate will assume the role of Program Director of Master of Science in Bioinformatics with responsibilities to include student recruitment and program development. Candidates must possess a Ph.D.; postdoctoral work and teaching experience are preferred.
