Job Description:
Department: Bioinformatics Core

Responsibilities: Work independently and apply expertise to solve domain-specific problems. Work independently or as part of a team on the development of databases, software applications and/or on the application of existing tools to support scientific projects. Utilizing statistical methodology on scientific studies and system/process improvements through the following: a) Designing, developing and implementing algorithms; b) Developing and analyzing prediction models for studies; c) Developing and working with complex data sets; d) Working with R and Big Data (such as Hadoop). Utilize scientific best practices when implementing, applying data analysis methods and interpreting the results of data analysis. Contribute to grant and report writing and might be invited to contribute to scientific publications.

Qualifications: Qualified candidate must have earned a Master's degree in domain-relevant sciences (biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics, statistics or health sciences) or domain informatics (computational biology, computational chemistry, bioinformatics, clinical informatics, medical imaging, or medical informatics), and must have three years of relevant academic/commercial experience in the following: a) The use of informatics computing and data management packages; and, b) Utilizing statistical methodology on scientific studies and system/process improvements through the following: i) Designing, developing and implementing algorithms; ii: Developing and analyzing prediction models for studies; iii) Developing and working with complex data sets; iv) Working with R and Big Data (such as Hadoop). All experience may be gained concurrently.
