Job Description:
External Posting Title
Intern: Computational Biologist

Job Description
This is a full-time internship from June-August 2015.

This individual will work closely with the computational biology/genomics group, data sciences team and key stakeholders to understand immediate requirements in analyzing large scale genomic datasets. The intern will identify key internal and external datasets to integrate and validate approaches to predict putative regulators in transcriptional data. The intern is expected to develop a robust pipeline for identifying and quantifying sequence motifs enriched in the upstream (and downstream) regions of genes of interest. The individual will explore comparative genomics approaches in addition to sequence enrichment to prioritize putative regulators. This tool will form an integral part of Computational Biology group’s standard pipeline in analyzing all subsequent datasets. Furthermore, we want to integrate this tool with existing in-house databases (PPI, disease map) and external databases (ENCODE, dbSNP, NextBio, GeneGo) to provide a comprehensive picture of transcriptional regulation in the context of the experiment. Further work involving systems biology/network-based approaches can also be pursued time permitting.
